Piezas recientes/Recent pieces

The nahual, according to the popular Mexican tradition, is a protective animal spirit with which every person is born and which advises it (across his sleep) and he guides it during all his life.

One believes that some sorcerers or chamanes have the power to create a special tie with his nahual in such a way that they manage to acquire the skills of his nahual and even the power to transform in it. It is peculiar because the most well-known nahual-jaguar was that of the god Tezcatlipoca who was assuming the same the form of the jaguar than that of the coyote.

This piece, which cost some time for his end, has the aspect of a man, with indigenous clothing, carrying a sarape and a sombrero been inspired by the aspect of the representation of " the Death " by the Mexican movie " Macario " (inspired by the book of Burno Traven of the same name).
The tail of the jaguar falls down and gives a curve up to transforming in a cane on which there rests the nahual, cane that turns into a tree, this part of the piece thinks about how to allude of the tie between the nahual and the natural forces.

The face is clearly of jaguar, although the hands are a little more human, but not this way the feet, which have the form of feline feet. The sarape is round and the somewhat exaggerated sombrero, but it was not possible to put him on the head without the detail was getting lost. The piece would be delivered in a beginning without doing, but finally the duel wanted that one was adding color, and I ran the risk of painting her I himself to hand.

The result is the one that it is possible to see in the photography. The original version was provided neither with the detail of the barbitas of the sarape, nor with the detail of the sucker in the right hand of the jaguar. The sarape had been thought about a red and blue color, but the contrast between tonalities of red and the yellow one of the suit (that it simulates blanket) they seemed to me much more interesting. The reading of the tail that turns the crook of which the personage supports himself became more visible with the color, as well as the transformation of the same one in a tree that thinks about how to grow green again.
