Gandal, el gris. 2017/Gandalf the grey. 2017
The next piece represents Gandalf, the grey, inspired by one of the main characters in the work of J. R. R. Tolkien. The "Grey Pilgrim" was one of the Istari or Wizards, sent by the powers of the West to help the free peoples of Middle-earth against the threat of Sauron. It is said that he was a Maia in the service of Manwë and Varda but who learned from Nienna compassion and patience. His appearance was that of an old man with gray hair and a beard that reached to his waist, with thick eyebrows that protruded from his hat, his body hunched over by the weight of his worries, his attire was that of a robe and gray cloak , crowned with a blue hat, accompanied by a silver scarf, always leaning on a wooden staff.
As can be seen in the photos, the detail of the elements of the piece has been carefully taken care of: the bag with its pipe, the detail of the belt and the buckle, the cover of the sword, the sword and his staff, as well as the beard of the scarf, on whose ends can be inscribed the rune "G", which was like the signature of the wizard.
The piece participated in several exhibitions organized in collaboration with Tolkiendili Society of Mexico AC, but was finally concluded during the month of October of 2017, it consists of a skeleton of wire, covered with papper maché to give shape to the body and all the rest of elements that it compose.
